The Beginning…
The Beginning:
I was 18 when I took my first Missions trip. I had an incredible youth leader at the time that was brave enough to see my potential for ministry. I remember arriving at the Dominican Republic airport and taken to the mountains where the missionary was waiting for us to arrive. I remember that the need for this independent missionary to finish the church was great. They had managed to build a tiny home and a church with a roof but no walls. But the incomplete church building did not deter the community from attending. When we would have services, people would walk for a long time just to come and hear the word.
I heard the stories of the mission field, but seeing it was an experience that impacted me. I remember stepping out the morning of our departure and looking out to the beautiful sunrise and fantastic mountain view; at that moment, I felt the Holy Spirit tell me that missions, from this point forward, would be a passion on my heart. I went to Southeastern University (SEU) and earned my Bachelors in Church Ministries with a Minor in Missions.
I graduated from SEU thinking about the mission field that I would travel to one day. I was not prepared for the Lord to tell me to wait, marry, and have children. Fast forward 10 years later: I applied for my minister's license and the Lord began to lay a burden for the missionary's personal life and with that, a plan of action for me to take. In August of 2019, the confirmation to start was apparent and I began to build Carry the Mission.
Since then, God has lead me to people that have assisted in in fulfilling this mission. Carry the Mission is called to focus on building, supporting, and caring for missionaries and their families. On January 05, 2021, I received my 501c3 to begin to Carry the Mission.
I began to seek the Lord on how this would look, and He gave me three purposes.:
The first purpose is to provide additional financial support to finish a project that total funding was not available. Once the missionary has received all the support from their organization and still needs help to complete the project, Carry the Mission will assist with the money that is left to raise.
The second purpose is to provide an entire paid vacation to our missionaries on furlough who have dependent children.
The third purpose is to provide emotional support for missionaries and their families. Carry the Mission will provide a place for missionaries and their families to heal and recharge. The goal is to have a counselor on-call to meet with them to help them heal and restore.
I wanted to remind our fellow Christians that the call to missionary ministry is not easy and takes huge sacrifice from those who accept the call. Our goal is to give support to missionaries that will provide a direct impact both individually and upon their ministry.
With the support of Christians, Carry the Mission can meet the needs of missionaries. Fellow Christians can share in the growth by making donations to continue to carry the missionary as they carry the vision.
